Grant Hayes - WB6OTS - SK (June 28, 1939 - September 25, 2019)

Sierra Vista, AZ

Sunday, September 6, 2019

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Grant Hayes, WB6OTS.

Although we don’t know the full details, it is our understanding that he passed away on Wednesday, September 25th while he and his wife Barbara were on vacation in Portugal.

Grant was a member of MMSN for over 2 years as a Net Control Station and operated from his home in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

On behalf of the management and membership of the Maritime Mobile Service Network, our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Grant.

With a heavy heart,

Bobby Graves, KB5HAV
Assistant Manager
Maritime Mobile Service Network

Grant was a fine individual and an excellent member of the net. Although I did not know Grant on a personal level, every-time I dealt with the man he was a true gentleman and a professional that was dedicated to the net mission. He will certainly be missed not only as an individual but also as a true diplomat of our service.

Sincerely,

Jeff Savasta, KB4JKL
Net Manager
Maritime Mobile Service Network

I know that Grant was a true gentleman and, I believe, carried the essence of what an amateur radio operator should be. Whenever I would call him to fill in a shift, he would eagerly step up if he could, and if he couldn’t, he was genuinely apologetic. He will be missed by the MMSN and by the amateur radio community.

Sincerely,

Dan Fisher, AI4GK
Second Assistant Net Manager
Maritime Mobile Service Network
